According to the ΕΕ 2015/1787, the water intended for human consumption should be free from microorganisms and parasites that may pose a risk to human health. For this purpose, the microbiological test, is used to monitor the quality and safety of various types of water (water intended for human consumption, drilling water, seawater, water for swimming pools and other recreational purposes, etc.).
